Vintage Silver Gelatin Photographs

Gelatin silver printing was introduced in the 1880's and was used up until the 1960's when color photography became widely used. The gelatin silver or "black and white" silverprint is considered the primary form of photography documentation in the early to mid 20th century. Silver Gelatins widespread use was found in fine art, snap shots and document reproduction and led to a variety of papers with a wide range of surface texture, gloss, and paper thickness.
